The Sunday meeting that rewired the company.
Getmobil started as a business that bought devices, refurbished them and sold them on. It worked, and it consumed cash. Every extra unit of growth needed another unit of working capital, and the ceiling was set by the balance sheet rather than by demand.
The turn came in one Sunday meeting. The team stopped asking how to fund more inventory and started asking what the company would look like if inventory were not the product. The answer was a platform: pricing, grading and routing driven by data, with the heavy capital moved off the company's own books.
Rebuilding the model while the operation kept running was the hard part. Pricing had to hold, supply had to keep arriving, and the team had to learn a second business before the first one was finished. It took longer than planned and the numbers dipped before they climbed.
Today the company runs on roughly $30M raised, a team of 180, and a model whose growth is limited by how well it reads the market rather than by how much capital it can hold. The angels who backed the early rounds have seen a 4× return.
That Sunday we decided the company's growth would never be blocked by capital. We moved from a capital-heavy model to a technology and data driven platform. Don't be afraid to make the move; read the market and the customer, the rest follows.
